![]() So I went to and got a VIN from an American CR-V, and sure enough, it gave me the code. ![]() It's absurd that they only provide such service only to Americans.Īfter some digging, I found that as long as the VIN is from an American car, the website will give you the code. However, after I put the information in I found out this only works for American cars, and my car is not. To find the serial code, I used this video to check it in 10 seconds without taking the whole booth out, saving hundreds not going to the dealers I then discovered this website, it takes your VIN, radio serial number, postal code, phone and email to give you the code. People have also gone to the dealers with the serial number ready, but inform they have to pay $20-$30 to get the code from their 'database'. Many people called dealers, and they would charge $100+ to take the radio out to inspect the serial number. The code might be in the user's manual but most people already lost it for a 20+ yo car. ![]() ![]() For those who don't know, if the radio of an older CR-V radio got disconnected from the battery, due to the battery being drained or replaced, the $20 piece of shit will lock itself and require a 5 digits code to unlock it. ![]()
